Fairytales have been written
since the beginning of time,
yet, why do they leave out,
“LGBTQ+” in their rhyme?
They tell lores of witches, princesses,
and fae,
They write about ‘thou’, yet never about ‘they.’
There’s princes and knights,
always getting all the glory,
So we’re writing a part II,
and we’re the heroes of the story.
Because no matter how it’s been written,
whether people like it or not,
LGBTQ+, is part of the plot.
There may not be witches,
nor dragons guarding a gate,
But evil exists, in the form of hate.
And it’s not a wand that’ll conquer it,
nor the sword of a knight,
It’s the magic of BAGLY— our voices
and our might.
And though we’ve always been here,
the tale has just begun,
Because now we have the pen,
and we’re writing what’s to come.
